Kelli Tice, MD
Kelli Tice, MD, is a family physician with a background in public health who serves as Florida Blue’s Senior Medical Director for Medical Affairs. In this role, Dr. Tice oversees the company’s health equity strategy and has responsibilities in the areas of corporate social responsibility and public health surveillance. In addition, Dr. Tice is the clinical lead for Florida Blue’s COVID-19 response.
A graduate of Florida A&M University and the University of Florida College of Medicine, Dr. Tice completed her Family Practice residency and served as a National Health Service Corps Scholar in Jacksonville, Florida. Early in her medical training, Dr. Tice became interested in addressing health disparities, empowering patients through education, and delivering culturally competent care. Dr. Tice taught cultural competency for physicians and incorporated evidence-based techniques to promote health equity into primary care practice in both private and public clinical settings. She worked with her patients and with the community to increase their ownership of their individual health and care, rarely missing an opportunity to publicly address topics known to drive health disparities.
Before joining Florida Blue in 2018, she spent 17 years as a public health physician, serving in numerous leadership roles including that of county health officer, Deputy Secretary for Health, and state medical director for the Florida Department of Health. Dr. Tice is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Florida Academy of Family Physicians, the National Medical Association, and she is the current Vice President of the Northeast Florida Medical Society. She currently serves as the chair of the Deans Council, Brooks College of Health at the University of North Florida. She is a mother of four and a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
