Kim Marie Barbel Johnson, D.O.
Dr. Kim Marie Barbel Johnson is a Family Physician and Clinical Research Scientist. She serves as the Director of Community Clinical Trials Administration at the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center (MCCCC) in Jacksonville, Florida. Over the past three decades, she has provided direct clinical care to patients and families in NE Florida. In her current role at Mayo Clinic, she supports the development and delivery of community-based, pragmatic, and decentralized cancer/cancer-related clinical trials.
Dr. Barbel Johnson has spent her entire Family Medicine career in Jacksonville, Florida. In both academic and community settings, she has earned a commendable track record in health equity advocacy. Since 2009, she has served as the principal investigator or sub-investigator for many industry-sponsored clinical trials across multiple organ systems within her scope of practice.
Dr. Barbel Johnson has been active in several medical and civic organizations. She served on the Board of Directors of the Florida Academy of Family Physicians. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Richard Webster-Bass Health Institute, Inc., and on the First Coast American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Leadership Cabinet. She is a founding member of the Northeast Florida Clinical Trials and Translational Science Consortium and is active in Jacksonville’s Patient Centered Research Collaborative.
Dr. Barbel Johnson has received multiple professional awards. She has been recognized by the University of Florida CHFM as “Teacher of the Year,” by The Florida Academy of Family Physicians as “Young Leader of the Year” and by NSU with the “Rose Community Award.” s, a SCUBA dive master and an Ironman triathlete.
