Susan D. Brandenburg

 

Susan D. Brandenburg is an award-winning biographer with more than four decades of experience. She is President of Susan the Scribe, Inc. Publishing, a member of the Florida Writer’s Association and teaches a class, “Remember Who You Are,” at the University of North Florida’s OLLI Program.  

Susan has written the biographies/memoirs of many local luminaries including Carlton Spence, W. Scott McLucas, Marilyn Peyton, Drs. Gaston & Maria Victoria Acosta-Rua, Jimmy Stockton, Marcia Morales, John R. Forbes, Iva “Godiva” Larson, Ray Ross, and Major General Gerald Stack Maloney, as well as historical memoirs of Rodeheaver Boys Ranch, Smoak, Davis & Nixon, and The Honorable Company of Past Chairmen (TPC Redcoats).  Susan is currently working on the memoir of Alton and Gwen Yates, Jenny Guth, Eileen Kelly, and The Centennial Celebration Book of the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club. Susan also writes and publishes a monthly children’s book titled Jeremy’s Journey Through Jacksonville Looking for Leaders for READ USA, a non-profit organization that serves elementary school children in Duval County. 

A board member of the Stetson Kennedy Foundation, the National League of American Pen Women and The Carpenter’s Shop Center, and on the Advisory Board of READ USA, Susan lives in the Lakewood section of Jacksonville.  She is a proud and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Her motto, The Power of One, refers to God, the One whose guidance she seeks in using the gift of words He has given her.
