Dr. Cheryl Doro Wilder

The Carpenter’s Shop Center

Dr. Cheryl Doro Wilder has devoted her career to promoting the intellectual, social, physical, and spiritual development of children, youth, and families in underserved communities in Jacksonville.

Her family roots run deep in this city starting with her grandfather, George Doro, who established the George Doro Fixture Company in 1919, a prominent downtown business for over 97 years.  Instead of building architectural woodwork, Dr. Wilder chose to build lives with the Master Builder, Jesus!  The name, The Carpenter’s Shop Center aptly reflects her family and spiritual heritage.

She obtained her bachelor’s degree in music education and Master of Arts Degree in Teaching from Jacksonville University, further earning a Doctorate Degree in Women’s Education and Ministries from Brewer’s Christian College.  Her career path started as an organist, choral and orchestra director, and teaching in both public and private schools in Duval County.

Doro and her husband Clint started The Carpenter’s Shop Christian Bookstore & Café in 1995.  In 1997, they founded The Carpenter’s Shop Church which they co-pastored for 20 years.

She established The Carpenter’s Shop Center (TCSC) in 2007, as an essential agency providing out of school time programs and services to underserved children, youth and families. TCSC has been proud to partner with Kids Hope Alliance for over 17 years in providing year-round services to over 180 students, K-12th, via after school, summer learning and workforce development programs, all vital prevention programs guiding children, youth and families to realize their potential.

Doro is a proud and devoted mother and grandmother. Her life reflects the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”
